Zoom Recruitment is seeking Civil Leading Hands to join an established civil contractor delivering projects across the greater Brisbane area.

With a strong pipeline of work, this is an opportunity to take on a hands-on leadership role across recreational parklands, roadworks, carparks, schools and water infrastructure projects.

Experienced leading hands are encouraged to apply, along with tradespeople and civil operators ready to take the next step into supervising a crew.

What's on Offer

  • Monday to Friday roster, generally 6:30am to 5:00pm, depending on the project
  • Overtime payable after ordinary hours, with the first two hours at time and a half, then double time
  • Wet weather pay up to 38 hours per week
  • Site vehicle provided when travelling between sites, otherwise a $28 daily car allowance
  • Immediate starts available, subject to recruitment and onboarding requirements

About the Role

Reporting to the Site Manager and Project Manager, you'll help coordinate crews of 3-10 workers, including employees, labour hire workers and subcontractors.

You'll lead by example, keeping daily activities organised and ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily tasks and provide clear direction to site crews
  • Assist with the delivery of civil works, with occasional associated commercial construction activities
  • Organise labour, materials and equipment to support daily production requirements
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure works meet project specifications
  • Lead toolbox talks and ensure hazards are identified and controlled
  • Maintain daily records of site activities, delays, variations and resources
  • Monitor productivity, material usage and waste, reporting issues to project management
  • Follow site safety, environmental and quality procedures
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers, subcontractors and the wider project team
  • Keep work areas, plant and equipment safe and presentable

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience on civil or construction projects
  • Construction White Card
  • Current driver's licence and reliable transport
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to organise and motivate a small crew
  • A practical approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to safety and quality
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment functional assessment and drug and alcohol screening

Previous crew leadership experience is highly regarded. A carpentry trade qualification, civil plant operating experience, operator tickets and knowledge of bulk earthworks will also be looked upon favourably.
