1. Who we are
G’day Job, available at https://www.gdayjob.com/, is operated by StudySmarter GmbH, Bahnbogen 21, 81671 Munich, Germany.
In this policy, “G’day Job”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the service operated by StudySmarter GmbH.
For privacy enquiries, contact datenschutzbeauftragter@studysmarter.de or write to our postal address above, marked “Privacy”.
For general enquiries, contact info@studysmarter.de.
2. What this policy covers
This policy explains how we handle personal information in connection with our website, accounts, job applications, alerts and related services.
Employers and external websites may handle your information independently. When you apply through another website, or an employer receives your application, you should also read that organisation’s privacy policy.
3. Personal information we collect
Depending on how you use G’day Job, we may collect:
- Contact information: your name, email address, telephone number and location.
- Account information: your account identifier, protected login credentials and settings.
- Career information: your CV, qualifications, employment history, skills, availability and documents you choose to submit.
- Application information: the vacancy selected, application answers, attachments and delivery records.
- Job preferences: roles, industries and locations you are interested in.
- Communications: enquiries, support requests and correspondence.
- Technical information: IP address, browser, device, pages visited, access times and security logs.
- Preference records: subscriptions, permissions, withdrawals and privacy requests.
Please avoid sending tax file numbers, banking details, identity documents or sensitive information unless a particular, legitimate process specifically requires them and explains how they will be handled.
Where sensitive information is needed, we will explain why and obtain consent where required.
4. How we collect information
We generally collect information directly from you when you register, complete a profile, apply for a role, subscribe to alerts or contact us.
Some information is collected automatically when your browser interacts with the website.
If a feature allows information to be imported from another service, we will identify that service and the information involved before you choose to use it.
You may browse public pages without creating an account. You can also make general enquiries anonymously or using a pseudonym where practical. We may need your identity to manage an account, deliver an application or respond to a request about your personal information.
5. Why we use your information
We use information to:
- Provide job search and related website functions.
- Create and manage accounts.
- Process and deliver applications you submit.
- Respond to enquiries and provide support.
- Send operational messages about accounts, applications and security.
- Detect misuse, investigate incidents and maintain the service.
- Meet legal obligations and manage disputes.
When you request or authorise optional services, we may also use information to send job alerts, recommendations or promotional communications.
If offered, employer access to a searchable candidate profile, WhatsApp messages and referrals to education providers will require an appropriate, separate choice. Registration alone does not authorise every optional use.
If you do not provide information needed for a particular function, we may be unable to provide that function.
6. Job applications and disclosure
When you submit an application through G’day Job, you ask us to send the information and documents included in that application to the recipient identified in the vacancy.
The recipient makes its own recruitment decisions. Once it receives your application, its handling of that information may also be governed by its own privacy policy.
We may use service providers for hosting, storage, email delivery, technical support and security. Their access must be appropriate to the services they provide and subject to suitable confidentiality and data protection arrangements.
We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, including in response to a valid request from a competent authority.
Submitting one application does not give us general permission to distribute your CV to unrelated employers.
7. Overseas handling
G’day Job is operated from Germany, so information you submit may be received, stored or accessed there.
Other service providers or application recipients may be located overseas. Where relevant, we will take reasonable steps required by applicable law to protect information disclosed to overseas recipients.
Using this website does not, by itself, mean you waive protections that may apply to overseas disclosures.
[TO COMPLETE BEFORE PUBLICATION: identify the actual overseas recipient countries, where practicable, and the providers and services used by G’day Job. Confirm hosting, email delivery, analytics, application processing and support arrangements.]
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies and browser storage may be used to maintain sessions, remember preferences and protect website functions.
Where analytics or advertising tools are used, the relevant information and choices should be available through the website’s privacy controls. We will obtain consent where applicable law requires it.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser. Blocking necessary cookies may affect sign-in and other functions.
[TO COMPLETE BEFORE PUBLICATION: add the actual cookie and tracking inventory, including provider, purpose, duration and instructions for changing preferences. Identify any advertising or email engagement tracking.]
9. Alerts and marketing
You can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link included in those messages or by contacting us.
You may also ask us to stop using your information for direct marketing. We will not charge you for making that request.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent necessary messages about account security or a service you have requested.
10. Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for its purpose and any applicable legal requirements. When it is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it, subject to lawful retention requirements.
We use safeguards appropriate to the information and risks involved. No website or transmission method is completely secure.
If a data breach occurs, we will assess it and notify affected individuals and regulators where required by applicable law.
Closing your G’day Job account does not automatically delete information already received by an employer. Contact that employer about its records.
11. Access, correction and other requests
You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you by emailing datenschutzbeauftragter@studysmarter.de.
Describe the information or correction requested and provide a way for us to respond. We may need to verify your identity using proportionate measures.
We will respond within a reasonable period. If access or correction is refused, we will explain the reason, where permitted, and available complaint options. Other rights, including deletion or restriction, may apply under relevant law.
12. Privacy complaints
Send privacy complaints to datenschutzbeauftragter@studysmarter.de, explaining what happened and the outcome you are seeking.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within seven business days and provide a substantive response within 30 calendar days. If more time is needed, we will explain why and provide an update.
If you are dissatisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, where it has jurisdiction, through https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/privacy-complaints. Other competent supervisory authorities may also be available.
13. Young people
Job opportunities may have different age, work eligibility and parental permission requirements.
Where a young person cannot provide valid consent for a particular activity, appropriate parent or guardian involvement is required. Contact us if you believe a young person has provided information without the necessary authorisation.
14. Changes to this policy
We will publish updates at https://www.gdayjob.com/privacy/ and revise the date above.
Material changes will be communicated appropriately. Where a new use requires consent, we will obtain it before proceeding.
