Maintenance Technician Royal Park, Adelaide
Intro
Yumbah is proudly positioned as Australia’s leading aquaculture company. With operations across South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales, we sustainably farm abalone, oysters, mussels and kingfish for both domestic and international markets, and supply oyster spat to the South Australian oyster industry. Driven by our core values of integrity, daring and teamwork, we are committed to supporting our people and delivering a sustainable source of premium seafood protein to our customers.
About the Role
Based at the Yumbah Seafood Processing Facility in Royal Park, Adelaide, the Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Processing Manager. This hands-on role keeps plant machinery, site utilities, and facility infrastructure running safely and efficiently while meeting strict food safety and regulatory standards.
Not another cog in a big maintenance crew
Most maintenance roles give you a list of work orders and a team of six to hide behind. This one gives you a site.
At our Royal Park processing facility, we process premium Australian Abalone and Yellowtail Kingfish, and every piece of plant, every cold room and every line has to be ready to go when the product arrives. We’re looking for a practical, trade-qualified all-rounder who wants to be the person the site relies on. You’ll fix it yourself when you can, call in the right contractor when you can’t, and make sure the job’s done properly either way.
If you’ve ever thought “I’d run this better if they let me,” this is your chance.
What your week looks like
You’ll spend most of your time on the tools: breakdowns, repairs, servicing and general handy work across processing equipment, refrigeration, buildings and services. You’ll be the one who books, supervises and follows up our external contractors, and you won’t let a job slide if it’s not up to standard. You’ll keep the paperwork tidy too: maintenance records, your calendar and email, SharePoint and Excel, and contractor invoices. And because you’re close to the production team every day, you’ll spot recurring problems early and help fix them for good.
You’ll be a great fit if you have
- A trade ticket as a mechanical fitter or electrician (Cert III or equivalent), plus the all-round handy skills to turn your hand to whatever the site throws at you.
- Experience organising and supervising contractors, and the backbone to hold them to account on safety, quality and service.
- Solid basic computer skills: email, calendar, Excel, SharePoint, invoices.
- Clear, straightforward communication with operators, managers and contractors.
- Self-motivation and pride in your work. You set a high bar without being told and you’re a good team player.
- Highly regarded: food processing or manufacturing background, refrigeration knowledge, forklift licence.
