Youthlaw does incredible, life-changing work providing free, high-quality legal and social work support to young people across Victoria who are doing it tough. Our frontline services help young people experiencing homelessness, family violence, mental health challenges, poverty, discrimination, over-policing, mistreatment and growing up in out-of-home care.

Multi-disciplinary practice is at the heart of all that we do, and our integrated legal-social support model is growing through the Young Care Leavers Legal Service.

We’re looking for an experienced Social Worker to join our Young Care Leavers Legal Service, providing trauma-informed, culturally safe and integrated social work support to young people who have recently exited out-of-home care and are navigating legal and social systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to:

  • Be part of an innovative, integrated legal-social service supporting young people leaving out-of-home care with their legal and social needs
  • Work closely with a dedicated lawyer to deliver coordinated, holistic and trauma-informed support
  • Support young people to navigate housing, income, education, health, care records and legal systems while building connection to ongoing supports
  • Contribute to systemic advocacy and sector learning on the issues faced by young care leavers

What we’re looking for:

An experienced, purpose-driven Social Worker who understands the needs of young people leaving out-of-home care and can provide flexible, strengths-based support alongside legal services. You bring strong trauma-informed practice, sound risk assessment and safety planning skills, and a commitment to young people’s rights, self-determination and culturally safe support.

Why join Youthlaw?

At Youthlaw, we don’t just talk about our values - we live them. You’ll be part of a team that puts young people first, challenges injustice, and works collaboratively to create real-world change.

We also offer:

  • Supportive, inclusive and flexible workplace culture
  • Salary packaging to boost your take-home pay
  • 12% superannuation
  • 5 weeks annual leave + paid shutdown leave between Christmas & New Year
  • Hybrid work model, with likely 1–2 days per week onsite for client appointments and some travel to outreach locations or courts

We strongly encourage applications from First Nations people, people of colour, people with disability, people from LGBTIQA+ communities, and those with lived experience of the issues our clients face. Your voice and experience are valued at Youthlaw.
