About Our Service

Our Temporary Supported Accommodation Services are delivered by the Youth Outreach team and funded through the Department of Housing as Specialist Homelessness Services. Our 24/7 accommodation programs support young people aged 16-19 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We provide accommodation assistance while supporting young people to develop the independent living and tenancy skills required to gain, maintain, and sustain long-term housing outcomes.

About the Role

Youth Outreach is seeking vibrant, reliable, and motivated Youth Workers to expand our casual workforce across our 24/7 accommodation programs. We are looking for energetic, resilient, and adaptable individuals who are passionate about supporting young people to achieve safety, stability, independence, and positive life outcomes. Successful applicants will be able to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining professional boundaries, responding appropriately to risk, and contributing positively to a residential team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to young people within a residential accommodation environment.
  • Undertake sleepover duties as part of a 24/7 roster.
  • Complete case work, support plans, case notes, and support activities as required.
  • Assist young people to develop practical living and tenancy skills, including budgeting, meal preparation, household management, education, employment readiness, health and wellbeing, and community participation.
  • Support young people to gain, maintain, and sustain safe and successful tenancies.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed and person-centred support.
  • Identify, assess, and respond to risks while maintaining a safe living environment for young people and staff.

Previous experience in residential care, youth homelessness, supported accommodation, or related human services settings will be highly regarded. Successful applicants must have the flexibility to provide shift coverage at short notice, as well as during periods of planned leave. A combination of day, evening, weekend, public holiday, and sleepover shifts will be available as part of a 24/7 roster.

Child Safe Organisation

Youth Outreach is committed to being a child-safe organisation where the safety, wellbeing, and rights of children and young people are at the centre of everything we do.
