Design Coordinator - Fashion and Accessories
Your Recruitment Agency Pty Ltd β Sydney CBD NSW
DESIGN COORDINATOR
Sydney, NSW
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a creative, detail-oriented and highly organised Design Coordinator to join an established and growing Australian fashion and accessories business. This is a hands-on role supporting the design and development of new jewellery, accessories and apparel collections, from initial inspiration and concept development through to sampling, product organisation and production handover. Working closely with senior creative leadership, you will play an important role in translating creative ideas into commercially viable products. You'll coordinate design concepts, prepare creative briefs, liaise with suppliers, manage samples and ensure the product development process runs smoothly. We're looking for someone with a strong creative eye who is equally comfortable managing the finer details. You'll be naturally proactive, organised and confident taking ownership, anticipating what needs to happen next and keeping projects moving without constant direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new jewellery, accessory and apparel concepts in line with seasonal direction.
- Research emerging trends, materials, finishes, colours and design inspiration.
- Create mood boards and collection concepts.
- Assist with design sketches, product references and technical information for suppliers.
- Support design refinements based on creative and product feedback.
- Maintain consistency across materials, finishes and overall design direction.
- Support the planning and development of seasonal collections and product launches.
- Prepare collection overviews and product line sheets.
- Research competitor brands, emerging trends and new product opportunities.
- Review best-selling products and customer trends to identify opportunities for new designs and product extensions.
- Help ensure collections are cohesive and commercially relevant.
- Coordinate with production teams and suppliers regarding new designs, samples and product updates.
- Prepare and distribute design references and product information.
- Review incoming samples, document feedback and communicate required changes.
- Maintain sample records and assist with sample approvals.
- Support quality checks to ensure products meet required standards.
- Maintain an organised digital library of current, previous and discontinued designs.
- Ensure product information, design references, images and specifications are accurately recorded.
- Keep product details updated, including style names, codes, materials and finishes.
- Organise physical samples and maintain accurate product records.
- Assist with preparing product information and creative assets for internal teams.
- Work closely with creative, marketing and production teams.
- Assist with preparing product information and imagery for campaigns and launches.
- Support supplier communication and production updates.
- Ensure product development information is communicated clear across teams.
- Provide general creative and administrative support as required.
About You
- Previous experience or relevant studies in jewellery design, fashion, accessories or product development.
- A strong creative eye and understanding of design aesthetics.
- An interest in materials, finishes and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or similar design software.
- Basic CAD or technical drawing experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive attitude with the confidence to take initiative.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Digitally savvy, with confidence using AI tools and emerging technologies to develop concepts, explore trends and streamline the creative process.
What Success Looks Like
- Helping bring new product collections from initial concept through to finished product.
- Contributing fresh ideas, trend insights and creative inspiration.
- Maintaining accurate and organised design archives, product information and sample collections.
- Supporting seasonal collection planning and product launches.
- Building strong working relationships across creative, production and supplier teams.
- Taking ownership of the day-to-day coordination that keeps the product development process moving efficiently.
