As a Local Link Advocate with YFS, you will build strong connections between healthcare and family, domestic and sexual violence support services while empowering professionals, advocating for victim-survivors, and coordinating access to services that promote safety, healing, and recovery across Jimboomba and the Scenic Rim.
At YFS, you'll have the opportunity to drive meaningful change, build strong community connections, and contribute to safer, more responsive support systems for people impacted by violence. Enjoy a unique role that combines advocacy, education, and direct client support.
This is an exciting opportunity to educate healthcare professionals, build workforce capability, advocate for participants, and provide case management support, giving you the chance to create impact at both an individual and system-wide level.
Work collaboratively with GPs, primary healthcare providers, specialist DFV services, and community organisations to strengthen service responses, improve referral pathways, and create better outcomes for victim-survivors.
The Local Link Specialist provides expert family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV) knowledge and guidance to support the implementation, delivery, and ongoing development of Primary Health Network (PHN) initiatives. Working collaboratively with General Practitioners, primary healthcare providers, mental health services, and community partners, the role delivers education, training, consultation, and capacity-building activities that strengthen the sector's ability to safely identify, respond to, and refer individuals impacted by FDSV.
The position plays a key role in the design, establishment, and enhancement of Local Link service models and PHN-funded initiatives, ensuring programs are evidence-informed, trauma-responsive, and reflective of community needs. The role also provides secondary consultations, case review support, and practice guidance to healthcare professionals and internal service teams, contributing to service quality, continuous improvement, evaluation activities, and strengthened outcomes for victim survivors accessing support.
Key to the role is fostering strong cross-sector partnerships, improving referral pathways between health and specialist FDSV services, and increasing workforce confidence and capability to support individuals experiencing domestic and family violence, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse.
Aside from meeting the key capabilities outlined in the related role description, you’ll be a great fit if:
- Passionate about supporting victim-survivors and facilitating recovery
- Brings experience working within the DFV, community services, social work, health, or human services sectors and demonstrates a strong commitment to trauma-informed, person-centred practice.
- Confident in education, advocacy, and influencing others
- Is comfortable presenting information, delivering training, and building the capability of healthcare professionals to identify and respond to domestic, family, and sexual violence.
- Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused
- Brings strong case management, assessment, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
People from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, and people who identify as part of the LGBTIQA+ community, are encouraged to apply.
Contact Rachel Smith on 07 3826 1*** if you want to talk about the role. Interviews are scheduled for 16th Oct 2026.
