We are looking for an experienced Carpenter / Builder to join our property and maintenance team. This is a rare opportunity to work somewhere your craftsmanship will be seen, appreciated and enjoyed by thousands of guests each year. This is not your typical building role. We are looking for someone who appreciates old buildings, understands craftsmanship and takes pride in the details. Someone who can look at an old piece of timber, an old door, a weathered post or a piece of discarded material and see the potential in it. At Yandina Station, we often don't want something to look brand new; we want new work to look like it has been here for 100 years.

Yandina Station is a historic 1850s cattle station in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, home to weddings, corporate events, accommodation and some of the region's most beautiful historic spaces.

WHAT’S INVOLVED:

  • Restoring part of a historic structure.
  • Building something completely new, improving guest accommodation or helping transform an idea into a feature that becomes part of the Yandina Station experience.
  • General carpentry and building maintenance.
  • Repairs and ongoing maintenance of historic buildings.
  • Restoration and sympathetic upgrades to heritage-style structures.
  • Create new outdoor activities, recreational areas and guest experiences across the property.
  • Improvements to guest accommodation and cottages.
  • Construction of new features, structures and facilities that complement the property's historic character.
  • Working creatively with reclaimed, recycled and existing materials.
  • Decks, doors, fencing, gates and general property projects.
  • General property and grounds maintenance as required.
  • Identifying and resolving maintenance issues before they are a problem.
  • Working alongside our maintenance and property team on larger projects.
  • Preparing buildings and outdoor spaces for weddings, events and guests.
  • Maintaining the property's high presentation standards.

HELP CREATE SOMETHING SPECIAL

We're looking for someone who cares about quality, enjoys variety and takes genuine pride in creating work that lasts. Someone who can look at an old building, a weathered piece of timber or an unused corner of the property and immediately start thinking about its potential. At Yandina Station, we're not interested in generic solutions. We value character, creativity and attention to detail. We're constantly looking for ways to make Yandina Station more memorable, more engaging and more enjoyable.

Your ideas and skills could help create:

  • Rustic outdoor recreation spaces.
  • Custom-built gathering areas.
  • Children's play spaces.
  • Farm-inspired guest activities.
  • Unique photo locations.
  • Feature structures and attractions.
  • Creative experiences that encourage guests to explore the property.

This isn't a role where every project arrives with a full set of plans. We value people who bring ideas, practical thinking and a creative mindset to what they do. If you've ever walked onto a property and thought, 'We could build something amazing here,' you'll fit right in.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • A CAN DO attitude.
  • Strong experience as a Carpenter, Builder or highly skilled maintenance tradesperson.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A high standard of workmanship.
  • You enjoy creating, restoring, improving and solving problems.
  • A practical, creative solutions-focused approach.
  • Experience working with a variety of building materials.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your workload.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work safely and responsibly within a working cattle property, accommodation and events environment.
  • A willingness to get involved wherever needed.
  • Pride in maintaining and improving a beautiful property.
  • You'd rather work on a unique historic property than spend every day on the same construction site.
  • Most importantly, you'll be a team player.

Yandina Station is a hands-on environment where everyone works together to achieve great outcomes. We value people who are positive, dependable and willing to roll up their sleeves when needed.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Full-time position with immediate start.
  • Diverse and interesting work across restoration, construction and maintenance projects.
  • A supportive and hands-on team environment.
  • Long-term opportunity to become an important part of the property's future.
