Finished uni? Survived your final exams? Wondering what on earth comes next? Congratulations! You've spent the last few years studying accounting, survived countless assignments, probably consumed far too much caffeine, and now you're about to enter the big, bad world of employment. Exciting? Absolutely. Terrifying? Maybe a little.

There aren't many red carpets, paparazzi or Hollywood blockbusters about tax returns. But here's the thing: while we might be boring accountants, we're definitely not a boring bunch of people. And we're looking for a switched-on graduate to join our team.

So, who are we? We're Xperion Accountants, a well-respected, boutique Chartered Accounting firm based in Kenmore, Brisbane. We're a close-knit, friendly team experiencing continued growth, working with clients across a wide range of industries, including medical practices, construction, professional services, real estate and hospitality. We take our work seriously, but we don't believe that means we have to take ourselves too seriously. We pride ourselves on providing quality advice, building genuine relationships with our clients and creating a workplace where people actually enjoy turning up on a Monday morning.

What will you actually be doing? Forget making coffee and spending your first six months perfecting your photocopying skills. We want you to learn, develop and become a genuinely good accountant. You'll be involved in:

• Preparing income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, companies and trusts.
• Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS).
• Responding to client queries (yes, you'll eventually need to talk to real people).
• Liaising with clients, the ATO and other regulatory bodies.
• Learning the practical side of accounting that university probably didn't teach you.

And don't panic. We don't expect you to know everything on day one. That's what we're here for.

Who are we looking for? We're not necessarily looking for the person with the highest GPA or someone who can recite tax legislation in their sleep. We're looking for someone with the right attitude. Ideally, you'll be:

• A recent or soon-to-be accounting graduate, ready to start your career.
• Switched on, motivated and genuinely keen to learn.
• A good communicator, both in writing and in person.
• Organised, enthusiastic and comfortable working as part of a team.
• Confident using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Someone who takes pride in their work and isn't afraid to ask questions.
• A good sense of humour wouldn't hurt either.
