x-RD is an award-winning Australian technology company specialising in secure applications, systems integration, and AI platforms for Defence, National Security, and Government clients. As leaders in DevSecOps and secure AI development, we partner with industry leaders like Anthropic, AWS, Chainguard and GitLab to deliver high-impact software.

We are seeking a Software Adoption Specialist (Defence) to bridge the gap between military campaign planning and software adoption and requirements. In this role, you won't just be supporting users; you will act as a trusted peer and advisor to junior and mid-level officers and their staff, embedding cutting-edge theatre campaign planning software into active campaign and operational planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Software Adoption: Guide individuals and teams from initial exposure to confident, sustained software use, addressing resistance and organisational inertia.
  • Provide Expert Coaching: Offer advanced guidance on applying complex software to operational planning and synchronisation, particularly following new feature releases.
  • Build the Training Continuum: Specify, design, and maintain a structured training continuum (foundational to advanced), along with SOPs and support materials tailored to military audiences.
  • Gather Feedback: Capture real-world user insights from planning environments to inform product development and track adoption metrics.

Key Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Mandatory active Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) clearance. Positive Vetting (PV) is highly desirable.
  • Military & Campaign Planning Background: 7+ years of military service with direct experience in ADF campaign planning. Experience in Joint Planning Groups at HQJOC or with advanced planning systems is highly regarded.
  • Location & Presence: Based in Canberra (or NSW within commuting distance), with the ability to work on-site at HQJOC at least 50% of the time (3+ days per week).
  • Change Enablement & Training: Proven experience supporting business change, including software adoption, building training materials and delivering in-person/virtual training.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in STEM, Security, or Intelligence (or equivalent practical experience). A Cert IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) is desirable.

Why you'll love this role

  • Real Impact: Directly shape how ADF planning teams adopt cutting-edge, secure technologies to solve complex operational challenges on critical national security capabilities.
  • Professional Growth: Work alongside industry leaders in DevSecOps and AI-enabled software development while enhancing your expertise at the intersection of Defence strategy and modern software.
  • Support: Enjoy flexible hybrid working arrangements, a collaborative team culture, and competitive perks—including a monthly IT allowance to support your setup.
