Woods & Co Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a well-established Melbourne-based business that works closely with construction teams across a broad range of projects. With a strong referral-based reputation and a close-knit team of around 28, the business is now looking to bring its finance function in-house. To support this, they are seeking an experienced Accounts Officer to take ownership of receivables, EBA payroll and supplier payments. This is a hands-on role where you will stay across what is coming in and going out, chase overdue accounts with confidence and give the directors the visibility they have been missing.
What's in it for you?
- $80,000 - $100,000 pro rata plus super for a part-time role
- Three days a week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) with half days possible if needed
- A brand new in-house role with genuine ownership, replacing an external provider
- Work directly with senior leaders, project managers and procurement in a collaborative office environment
- A varied mix of accounts receivable, payroll, supplier management and executive support, with autonomy that grows as you learn the business
What you'll do:
- Own accounts receivable from end to end - raising invoices, monitoring ageing, chasing overdue accounts
- Manage large project retentions with persistence, professionalism and sound negotiation
- Process full EBA payroll for a workforce split between EBA and non-EBA staff
- Manage supplier accounts including payment runs, following up delays and liaising with project managers and procurement on delivery timelines
- Maintain accurate records and reconciliations in Xero
- Provide the directors with timely updates on cash flow, debtors and creditors
- Support a senior leader with executive assistant duties (around 20% of the role) such as client bookings, lunches and diary management
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in an Accounts Officer, Accounts Receivable or similar role
- Hands-on payroll experience, ideally with EBA or union-covered workforces in construction or trades
- A strong track record of collecting from slow-paying clients while protecting relationships built on referrals and friendships
- Negotiation skills with the confidence to be direct and firm when needed
- Experience dealing with construction teams and project-based billing
- A hungry, proactive approach with strong ownership of your work
- Executive support or administration exposure is highly regarded
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
