We've got an exciting opportunity for an Events Manager to join our Marketing and Events team. Based in our Newcastle office, you'll lead the strategic delivery of our firmwide events programme. We operate a hybrid working policy and most full-time employees typically spend around three days in the office and two days working from home, although we take a flexible approach in practice.

The Team

Our Marketing and Events team plans and delivers activity across the firm's sectors, teams and offices, helping us win work, strengthen client relationships and build our brand. Events, whether in-person, online or hybrid, play a crucial role in bringing our clients and people together. As a result, our Events team is fully immersed in the business, working closely with colleagues across the firm to make sure our events strategy supports the wider strategic priorities and creates meaningful commercial opportunities.

The role

As our Events Manager, you'll take the lead on the strategic development of WBD's events programme with the aim of building relationships, creating opportunities and showcasing our brand. You'll have the freedom to shape what great events look like at WBD, turning the firm's priorities into engaging in-person, virtual and hybrid experiences. From developing the annual programme to exploring new formats and ideas, you'll make sure our events have a clear purpose and deliver real impact. You'll also lead and develop our Events Team, creating a collaborative environment where people can do their best work. You'll oversee delivery across the programme, balancing priorities, budgets and resources while maintaining a consistently high standard.

And this isn't just about delivering great events. You'll work closely with colleagues across Marketing and Business Development and act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, using insight and feedback to shape future activity, spot opportunities and make sure our events deliver genuine value for our clients and the firm.

What are we looking for?

  • Significant experience of planning and delivering a varied programme of in-person, virtual and hybrid events, ideally within a professional services or commercial environment
  • Experience of managing and developing a team, including allocating work, coaching others and maintaining high standards
  • Strong programme and project management skills, with experience of managing competing priorities, budgets, resources, suppliers and deadlines
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders, providing clear advice and constructively challenging requests where appropriate
  • A strong understanding of how events can support client engagement, marketing campaigns and business development opportunities
  • Experience of using performance data, attendee insight and stakeholder feedback to evaluate events, demonstrate return on investment and improve future activity

You'll also be commercially aware, calm under pressure and committed to delivering an excellent client experience. You'll enjoy working collaboratively and finding new ways to improve how events are planned and delivered.
