Job Description
Chagoya Support Group Pty Ltd is a registered NDIS provider and Australian home care service based on Northbourne Avenue in Dickson, in Canberra's inner north. The business works with NDIS participants of all abilities, and with their families and carers, offering personal care, supported independent living, help with daily living and household tasks, life skills development, community and social participation, and support coordination. Its wider group also supplies hospitals, clinics and other care providers with healthcare staff, training, medical consumables, security and environmental services, which keeps high care standards and compliance at the heart of how it operates.
The goal behind all of this is a simple one: helping each person it supports to live a fuller, more independent life at home and in the community. Our client, Chagoya Support Group Pty Ltd at Dickson, ACT, is now looking for an experienced Aged or Disabled Carer to join the team. The role will suit a warm, dependable person who enjoys practical, hands-on care and treats every client with dignity and respect.
Aged or Disabled Carer | Chagoya Support Group - Dickson, ACT Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personal care in line with each client's support plan, including help with showering, toileting, grooming and getting dressed, and assist clients to move around safely through transfers, repositioning and the correct use of hoists, walking frames and wheelchairs.
- Get to know each person you support and become a friendly, steady presence in their week, offering company, conversation and emotional reassurance, while respecting their privacy, culture and right to make their own choices.
- Cook nutritious meals and snacks that suit each client's dietary needs, mealtime plans and tastes, and, in line with the goals in their NDIS plan, help participants build everyday living skills such as cooking, budgeting, using public transport and keeping track of appointments.
- Go with clients to medical and therapy appointments, work placements and outings in the local area, and take care of grocery shopping, pharmacy collections and other everyday errands, either with them or on their behalf.
- Work rostered shifts in clients' own homes and in supported independent living houses, including sleepover and overnight shifts where you stay in the home with the residents and respond to their needs during the night.
- Keep homes and shared living houses clean, tidy and safe by vacuuming, mopping, cleaning kitchens and bathrooms, washing and folding laundry and changing bed linen, and report any hazards or home safety concerns to your supervisor straight away.
- Organise social, leisure and community activities around each client's interests, from local outings, hobby groups and community events to catch-ups with family and friends, so they stay connected and involved in Canberra life.
- Prompt and assist with medication in line with each client's medication plan and your training, watch for changes in health, mood or behaviour, and keep clear, accurate progress notes, shift handovers and incident reports.
- Follow the NDIS Code of Conduct and Practice Standards along with infection control and work health and safety procedures, including safe manual handling and correct use of PPE, and work closely with families, support coordinators, therapists and the rest of the Chagoya team so each client receives consistent care.

- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid and CPR certificates and a full Australian driver licence, or a willingness to obtain them before starting.
Hours: 38 hours per week - Full-time Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum
