Head of Teaching and Learning - Middle School

Westbourne Grammar School is inviting expressions of interest for the position of Head of Teaching and Learning - Middle School. This is a key educational leadership role with responsibility for shaping teaching, learning and curriculum across Years 5-8, an important stage in students' academic and personal development.

Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning, you will work with curriculum leaders and teachers to strengthen teaching practice, develop engaging and contemporary curriculum, and ensure every student is challenged and supported to achieve strong learning growth.

You will:

• Lead and champion contemporary teaching and learning practices across Years 5-8, fostering a culture of academic excellence, intellectual curiosity and continuous improvement.
• Drive curriculum innovation, ensuring programs are engaging, future-focused and aligned to the Victorian Curriculum and the school's P-12 learning philosophy.
• Coach, mentor and develop curriculum leaders and teachers through evidence-informed practice, feedback and professional learning.
• Use data, research and student outcomes to inform strategic decisions and strengthen teaching effectiveness.
• Collaborate across the School to build seamless learning pathways and exceptional educational experiences for all students.

About You

You are a highly accomplished educator and strategic leader with a passion for fostering outstanding teaching and learning. You bring the vision, expertise and influence to inspire others while driving meaningful improvement across a dynamic educational environment.

You will bring:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education and current VIT registration.
• Significant experience in Middle School teaching, curriculum leadership and learning improvement.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and contemporary pedagogical approaches.
• Proven success in leading and developing staff through coaching, mentoring and professional learning.
• Expertise in data-informed practice and evidence-based decision-making.
• Outstanding leadership, communication and organisational capabilities.
• A collaborative, innovative and improvement-focused leadership style.
