An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Paediatrician to join the Paediatric team at West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG), based at West Gippsland Hospital in Warragul. The Paediatrician will provide on-site paediatric services, including inpatient and outpatient care, neonatal care within the service capability, and consultation and advice to the Emergency Department, Paediatric Unit, Special Care Nursery and local general practitioners.
The role provides an excellent opportunity to practise across a broad range of acute and general paediatric presentations while working collaboratively with an experienced multidisciplinary team. The Paediatric team is committed to safe, effective and family-centred care and provides a supportive environment with opportunities to contribute to education, clinical governance and service development.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- MBBS or equivalent qualification eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), Paediatrics & Child Health Division, or an equivalent specialist qualification recognised in Australia.
- Specialist registration with AHPRA in Paediatrics and Child Health.
- Extensive clinical experience in the assessment and management of infants, children and adolescents, including acute and general paediatric presentations.
- Experience in neonatal care, including assessment and stabilisation of newborns.
- Ability to provide high-quality inpatient, outpatient and consultative paediatric care.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with children, families and carers.
- Commitment to teaching, supervision, clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety and evidence-based practice.
The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:
- Previous experience in assisting the development and review of paediatric and neonatal policies, procedures, clinical guidelines and audit programs.
- Actively participate in paediatric and neonatal clinical audits, case reviews and morbidity and mortality review processes.
- Participate in paediatric outpatient clinics and assist with triage of referrals to support timely access to care.
