We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for leading and supporting a team of fitters to safely and efficiently repair, maintain, and rebuild Weir equipment both in the Service Centre and at customer sites. The position combines people leadership with operational responsibility, overseeing estimating, quoting, planning, and execution of workshop, field service, and shutdown activities while ensuring exceptional customer service, on‑time delivery, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of fitters to deliver safe, high‑quality workshop and onsite service outcomes.
  • Plan, estimate, quote, and coordinate workshop, field service, and shutdown activities to meet customer and business commitments.
  • Manage labour, materials, contractors, and job scheduling to maximise productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Build strong customer relationships through proactive communication, responsive support, and effective issue resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement, compliance, and workforce capability through training, LEAN initiatives, and safety‑focused leadership.

Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world‑class safety culture.

Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to customer sites as required to support field service and shutdown work.

What you’ll bring:

  • Trade‑qualified Fitter (Cert 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent) with relevant maintenance and repair experience in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with strong coaching, communication, and team management capabilities.
  • Proficient in SAP, Microsoft Word, and Excel, with experience managing service orders and invoicing processes.
  • Current driver’s licence and commitment to complying with site‑specific safety, induction, and operational requirements.
  • Additional high‑risk work licences and certifications (e.g., Forklift, Crane, Dogging, Rigging, Coal Surface Induction) are highly regarded.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills, including contractor management, materials planning, and adherence to customer and industry standards.

Why join Weir?

  • We live our values: we think safety first, do the right thing, respect each other, aim high, and delight our customers.
  • We encourage our people to lead by example and celebrate our successes.
  • We’re passionate about our purpose to help deliver the natural resources that are essential to create a better future for the world.
  • We do this by combining our deep customer insights, world‑class engineering, materials science expertise, and intelligent automation to deliver innovative end‑to‑end solutions incorporating our signature technologies.
  • We believe your voice matters and your ideas make a difference.
  • We’re working hard to nurture a diverse culture where our people feel like they belong and can do the best work of their lives.
  • You can help shape our unique culture through our inclusion networks and safety initiatives.

Benefits:

  • Competitive pay
  • Career development and learning support
  • Access to global inclusion networks
  • Regional and team‑specific benefits
  • Sharebuilder scheme
  • Wellness support for you and your family
  • Collaboration with global teams
