One of the world’s biggest film studios wants a dedicated Junior Analyst in Australia, working on its films full time. That’s you.

You’ll be the Australian market analyst for the studio’s global marketing analytics team.

They brief you directly, review your work and give you feedback.

Your job is to tell their local marketing team what Australians are searching for, saying and sharing about each film, and what to do about it.

Most weeks follow a set rhythm.

A film goes into a campaign, media goes live, and you report on it twice a week until release.

Trailer reads, cast analysis and ad hoc questions from the studio fill the gaps.

You’ll work closely with the client day to day.

You’ll plan your own week, check your own numbers and run your own client conversations.

You’ll still have a line manager at We Are Social for support and development, and a network of analysts around the world doing the same job in other markets.

  • What you’ll do
  • Weekly campaign reporting
  • Track search interest for each film against comparable titles every Monday and Thursday, and match the spikes to the paid media plan.
  • Report on the studio’s Australian owned channels (Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, You Tube): which posts drove engagement and what the comments say.
  • Run social listening on earned conversation. Group it into themes, rate the sentiment of each and estimate its share.
  • Write a key takeaway and two or three actions each week.
  • Trailer and cast analysis
  • Read audience reaction in the seven days after a trailer drops.
  • Analyse how Australians talk about a film’s lead cast, so publicity knows who to put forward.
  • Campaign beat trackers
  • Build timelines of what competitor films did in Australia: trailer drops, premieres, press tours, partnerships, stunts.
  • Work with the studio’s local media and digital team in Sydney on media plans, timings and anything that shifts.
  • Join calls with the global team. Some land early morning Sydney time, because they’re based in the US.
  • Raise problems early: a late brief, a missing data feed, a number that doesn’t add up.
  • Tools

Talkwalker, Brandwatch, Google Trends, Tableau, Listen First and Apify, plus Google Sheets, Slides and AI tools like Claude, Chat GPT and Gemini.

You don’t need to know any of these on day one.

We’ll train you.

About you

  • Up to 2 years in research, analytics, social, media or insights. Graduates with relevant internships or project work are welcome.
  • Attention to detail that holds under deadline.
  • Real comfort in spreadsheets: pivot tables, lookups and cleaning up messy exports.
  • You use AI tools well and know when not to trust them.
  • Clear written and spoken English. You can sum up a week of conversation in two sentences.
  • You run your own time across overlapping deadlines without being chased.
  • The confidence to deal with a client directly: ask the question, confirm the brief, push back politely.
  • A genuine interest in film and internet culture. You can tell a trailer that’s landing from one that’s being memed.
  • Bonus
  • Hands‑on time with a social listening tool (Brandwatch, Talkwalker, Meltwater or similar).
  • Experience with Google Trends or other search data.
  • A second language.
  • Why this role
  • You’ll work directly with a global film studio’s marketing team from your first week.
  • You’ll build a specialism in entertainment analytics that few analysts build this early.
  • You’ll sit inside We Are Social’s Research & Insights team in Sydney, with training on industry tools and a global network of analysts to learn from.
