About Us

At Warakirri College, we educate young people aged 15–22 who have disengaged from mainstream schooling—often due to anxiety, depression, or social disadvantage. Our students need the right environment and dedicated, passionate educators in order to thrive. Our education model is expanding its reach, and by the end of 2027, we will have 7 physical campuses and a Distance Education unit. To support our continued growth and strengthen the quality of the Warakirri educational offering, we are seeking to appoint a Deputy Principal for the regions of Campbelltown and Picton.

About the Role

The Deputy Principals are essential in promoting a positive school culture and supporting the Principal in achieving the school’s strategic vision. The role is multifaceted and crucial for the smooth operation of the school by providing professional leadership and management. This role would suit an exceptional educational leader, someone who leads with warmth and presence, thinks strategically as well as practically, and is highly credible with students, staff, parents and colleagues. The successful candidate would be someone who understands the needs of students from trauma backgrounds, or with social-emotional disabilities - someone who models our values of respect and inclusion, care and commitment, opportunity and teamwork, and ambition with integrity.

Working closely with a dynamic Strategic Leadership Team, the Deputy Principal will have the opportunity to engage deeply in College growth and development, complex organisational decision-making and leadership of large and diverse teams. Each Deputy Principal is responsible for three campuses, around 360 students and 55 staff. This role will initially support three existing Heads of Campus in managing the day-to-day operations of their campuses located in Campbelltown (North and South campus) and our newly opened Picton campus.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment to values-aligned, trauma-informed practices.
  • Recognised teaching qualification with current NESA accreditation at Proficient level or above and evidence of being an exemplary teacher.
  • A minimum of five years in a leadership role, with proven ability to lead, support and develop diverse educational teams.
  • Strong pastoral orientation, including the ability to work effectively with students experiencing social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills, flexibility and foresight to anticipate, prioritise and resolve issues in line with College requirements and student needs.
  • Proven capacity to build and maintain relationships with parents, the community, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated resilience and emotional regulation, with the ability to maintain stable, effective performance under pressure or in challenging situations.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to work with a team of committed professionals in an exciting period of College growth.
  • A supportive multi-campus school environment where positive relationships are at the forefront.
  • A sustained focus on professional development.
  • A very attractive salary package, plus salary sacrificing benefits of FBT exempt payments up to $15,999 p/a and a car allowance.
  • Fitness Passport membership.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
