Lead educational practice. Strengthen student wellbeing. Shape the future of Warakirri.
About Us
At Warakirri College, we educate young people aged between 15-22 who need a different kind of school, one that allows them to reengage and connect with their educational journey, despite everything they’ve been through.
We provide a flexible, supportive and trauma-informed environment where strong relationships, quality teaching and individualised support offer students a fresh start where they can finish high school and build positive futures.
As Warakirri continues to grow, we are strengthening our College-wide educational leadership to ensure the quality of our teaching, curriculum and student wellbeing remains at the heart of everything we do.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and values-driven educational leader to join Warakirri College as our Program Director/Deputy Principal.
Reporting directly to the Principal and sitting on the Strategic Leadership Team, this is a senior College-wide role responsible for strengthening two foundational areas of our work: Curriculum and Student Wellbeing.
Working across our 7 campuses and Distance Education Program, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight of:
Curriculum design, delivery and implementation
Teaching practice and educational improvement
Student wellbeing and engagement
Diverse learning and inclusive practice
Co-curricular programs
College-wide educational frameworks, consistency and quality
Development and capability of senior program leaders
You will lead a team of seven direct reports and work closely with Deputy Principals, Heads of Campus and other College leaders to embed high-quality, inclusive and trauma-informed educational practice and College-wide approaches to pastoral care, student engagement, behaviour and belonging.
You will also collaborate with our corporate services leadership across operations, risk and compliance and strategic development to strengthen organisational effectiveness and support Warakirri's continued growth.
About You
You will be an experienced educational leader who can think strategically while remaining deeply connected to teaching, learning and student wellbeing.
You will bring:
Significant educational leadership experience within a secondary school environment
A recognised teaching qualification and appropriate NSW teacher accreditation
Strong curriculum, pedagogy and teaching practice expertise
Demonstrated leadership of student wellbeing, inclusion and/or diverse learning
Experience leading and developing senior educators and multidisciplinary teams
A strong understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive education
The ability to lead improvement consistently across multiple campuses or programs
Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong judgement and the ability to balance educational quality, student needs, risk and organisational priorities
Most importantly, you will share our belief that young people who have experienced barriers to education deserve exceptional teaching, strong relationships and the opportunity to succeed.
Why Warakirri?
This is an opportunity to influence educational practice across the whole College and help shape the next stage of Warakirri's development.
