We are looking for a motivated and experienced Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing store operations, supervising staff, maintaining stock levels, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the newsagency. The role requires strong leadership, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage retail activities, monitor sales performance, coordinate staff rosters, maintain merchandising standards and ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient store functioning.
- Supervise and coordinate staff, including recruitment, training, rostering and performance management.
- Deliver excellent customer service by addressing customer enquiries, resolving complaints and maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve sales targets and improve business profitability.
- Manage inventory and stock control, including ordering, receiving, replenishment and minimising stock losses.
- Oversee merchandising and displays to maintain attractive product presentations and effective product placement.
- Manage financial activities, including cash handling, daily reconciliations, expense monitoring and sales reporting.
- Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety requirements, retail regulations and company policies.
- Maintain store standards, including cleanliness, organisation, security and the proper handling of newspapers, magazines and other retail products.
- Develop business improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen customer relationships and support business growth.
About you
- Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Retail Manager or similar
- Relevant qualification in retail or related field
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and organisational abilities
