About the role
The Bringing Up Aboriginal Babies At Home (BUABAH) program supports Aboriginal families from pregnancy through to the first six months of their baby’s life, helping keep families strong, connected and thriving. As a BUABAH Practitioner, you will walk alongside families from 16 weeks of pregnancy, providing culturally safe, trauma informed support that empowers parents to make decisions for themselves and their children. You will build trusted relationships, connect families with maternity, health and community supports, and work alongside key services to provide holistic care. Through a strengths based approach, you will help families share their story their way, strengthen self determination, and support the best possible outcomes for Aboriginal babies, families and communities.
About You
You believe every Aboriginal family deserves to feel supported, heard and connected. You naturally build trust through yarning, deep listening and genuine relationships, and you enjoy walking alongside families as they prepare to welcome a new baby into their lives. You are passionate about strengthening families and helping parents build confidence in their parenting journey. You support families to connect with culture, community and the services they need, while ensuring their voices remain at the centre of every decision. You are comfortable advocating for families, working collaboratively with partners, and creating culturally safe spaces where healing, hope and resilience can grow. Most importantly, you bring warmth, compassion and a commitment to helping Aboriginal babies and families thrive, with strong connections to family, culture and community.

Certificate, Diploma or Degree qualification in Community Services, Social Work and/or substantial experience in these fields.
