If you're an accountant who's quietly open to something better, but not interested in starting from scratch, this role is designed to be flexible, grown into, and negotiated. The level is flexible, Intermediate stepping up or Senior owning a portfolio. Client load and responsibilities can be shaped to suit your experience. Package is negotiable for the right person (not a fixed band). Long-term clients and systems already in place — no chaos. Support team that lets you focus on accounting, not admin. This is a role for someone who wants stability, autonomy, and a firm that’s prepared to meet you halfway.

Our client is a long-standing Rockhampton accounting firm with established clients, strong internal support, and the maturity to know that great accountants don’t all want the same thing. They’re open to appointing either an Intermediate or Senior Accountant and tailoring the role, workload, and package accordingly.

The role:

  • Manage a portfolio of business clients (size and complexity negotiable)
  • Prepare financial statements, tax returns and compliance work
  • Be the trusted point of contact for clients
  • Review and mentor (Senior) or build toward this responsibility (Intermediate)
  • Work closely with a capable internal team

About you:

  • Public practice experience (Intermediate or Senior)
  • Comfortable managing clients and deadlines
  • CA or CPA qualified (or working toward)
  • Looking for a long-term role that fits your life, not the other way around

If you’ve been thinking "I’d move for the right setup", this is exactly that kind of conversation!

The Opportunity:

  • Fully remote working arrangement.
  • Work across a diverse client base.
  • Receive mentoring and support from experienced Directors.
  • Clear pathway to Supervisor.
  • Develop your technical and client-facing experience.
  • Join a modern, flexible firm with opportunities to progress.

What You’ll Do:

  • General Ledger & Accounting: Maintain multi-currency ledgers, record daily financial transactions, and oversee full-charge bookkeeping routines.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee global invoicing, track accounts receivable, and process vendor payments and cash flow schedules.
  • Reconciliation & Reporting: Execute daily bank and account reconciliations, preparing foundational financial reports and trial balances for executive management.
  • Operational Administration: Streamline company workflows, maintain centralized document repositories, and manage vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Payroll & Expense Support: Process monthly global payroll adjustments, calculate contractor fees, and audit internal expense reimbursements.

What You Bring:

  • Experience & Certifications: 4+ years of combined experience in bookkeeping and office/business administration within international operating environments.
  • Core Technical/Specialized Skills: Advanced proficiency in cloud accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks), MS Excel, and business administration tools (Google Workspace, MS 365).
  • Background & Domain Expertise: Relevant qualifications in Accounting or Business Administration (e.g., SAIPA, CIMA, ICBA preferred).
