The Opportunity

Verve Partners is partnering with an established and highly regarded Australian business to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to join its leadership team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the finance function within a successful organisation, combining hands-on financial management with genuine commercial influence.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you'll play an important role in driving financial performance, supporting business decisions and leading a small finance and administration team.

With a planned commencement in February 2027, this is an ideal opportunity for an experienced finance professional considering their next career move.

About the Role

This is a broad and commercially focused position where you'll have the opportunity to influence business performance and contribute to longer-term strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and compliance.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital and financial performance.
  • Provide commercial analysis to support pricing, costs and profitability.
  • Lead and develop the finance and administration function.
  • Drive improvements in financial systems, processes and internal controls.
  • Partner with senior leadership on financial strategy and operational decisions.

About You

We're looking for an experienced finance professional who enjoys being involved in the business, not just reporting on the numbers.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • 7-10 years' experience in senior finance or financial leadership roles.
  • CA/CPA qualification, or working towards completion.
  • Strong financial reporting, budgeting and commercial analysis skills.
  • Experience in a commercially focused or operational business environment.
  • Confidence working with ERP systems and advanced Excel.
  • A practical, approachable leadership style and strong stakeholder engagement skills.

Above all, you'll be someone who can balance strong financial control with a commercial mindset and a genuine interest in helping a business perform.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is more than a traditional Financial Controller role. You'll have the autonomy to influence how the finance function operates, work closely with key decision-makers and make a meaningful contribution to business performance.

You'll be joining an established organisation that values accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Commencement is planned for February 2027

allowing time for a considered recruitment process and transition.
