Client-Side Project Manager in Newcastle

Lead projects and mentor a growing team with a respected Newcastle based client-side consultancy. Verve Partners is working alongside an established Newcastle-based project and development management consultancy delivering commercial, residential, industrial and community projects across the Hunter and regional NSW.

With a growing client base and an expanding pipeline, the business is seeking a Senior Project Manager from a client-side advisory background to lead the delivery of key projects, act as a trusted adviser to clients and mentor a small team of Project Managers.

The Opportunity

You will lead on the delivery of multiple projects from early feasibility and due diligence through design, approvals, procurement, construction and handover, representing the client’s interests at every stage. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and regulators, you will:

• Lead project delivery as the client’s representative and trusted adviser
• Mentor, guide and review the work of a small team of Project Managers
• Engage and manage architects, engineers, environmental and specialist consultants
• Set and manage project programmes, budgets, risks and reporting
• Lead planning, approvals, procurement and tender processes
• Undertake contract administration and superintendent functions
• Prepare and present client reports, board papers and project recommendations
• Build long-term client relationships and support the growth of the client base

About You

You will be an experienced client-side Project Manager who enjoys leading projects, developing others and contributing to a growing business. You will be comfortable advising clients with confidence and taking ownership of outcomes. You will ideally have:

• Seven or more years’ client-side project management experience, ideally from a client-side advisory or project management consultancy working on healthcare, residential, commercial, rail or infrastructure projects.
• A track record of leading projects across feasibility, design, approvals, procurement and construction
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior Project Managers
• A relevant qualification in construction, project management, engineering, environmental science, architecture or property
• Strong contract administration knowledge, including superintendent roles under AS4000/AS2124 or similar
• Excellent stakeholder management, commercial acumen and client-facing communication skills
• Experience delivering land remediation projects, including working with environmental consultants, site auditors and the EPA would be highly beneficial.
