Our client is a commercial builder offering a development opportunity for someone with a carpentry background who wants to build a long-term career in site management. They are looking for an aspiring Leading Hand who is keen to learn, take ownership and grow within the business.
The Role:
Working alongside experienced site management, you will support the day-to-day running of commercial construction projects while developing your supervision and coordination skills. This would suit a carpenter ready to take on more responsibility, or an existing Leading Hand looking to transition into commercial construction. The long-term aim is to develop towards a Site Manager position, supported by practical experience, mentorship and training. You must be willing to travel to sites throughout the Melbourne metropolitan area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Site Manager with daily site operations and trade coordination
- Take a hands-on approach to site tasks and resolving day-to-day issues
- Help organise works, materials and deliveries to maintain progress
- Monitor workmanship and assist with quality inspections and defect management
- Support site safety, housekeeping and compliance requirements
- Develop your understanding of construction sequencing, programming and site supervision
The Ideal Candidate:
- Carpentry trade background with strong practical construction knowledge
- A carpenter ready to step up, or a Leading Hand seeking commercial exposure
- Long-term ambition to progress into a Site Manager role
- Proactive, reliable and willing to learn from experienced site teams
