About the role

At Unitywater, we're planning for tomorrow, while delivering essential services today.

As our region continues to grow, we're looking for a GIS Officer to help maintain and enhance the integrity of our spatial data, providing critical insights that support infrastructure planning, asset management and operational decision-making across the business.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, developers, contractors and delivery partners, you'll ensure infrastructure assets are accurately captured, maintained and integrated across our GIS and asset management systems.

Through the delivery of reliable spatial data, analysis and mapping products, you'll support the planning, delivery, operation and maintenance of critical water and wastewater infrastructure across our network.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintain and enhance Unitywater's GIS and spatial datasets, ensuring data quality, accuracy and integrity.
  • Provide spatial analysis, mapping products and insights that support planning, project delivery, asset management and operational decision-making.
  • Manage the capture, validation and integration of asset information across GIS and asset management systems.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to ensure infrastructure assets are accurately recorded and spatial information requirements are met.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of GIS processes, systems, integrations and automation opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and support to users of spatial information systems and asset recording tools.

About you

You're a collaborative and customer-focused GIS professional who enjoys both technical problem-solving and working with stakeholders to achieve great outcomes.

To be successful, you'll bring

  • Qualifications in Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in spatial data management within a complex operational environment.
  • Strong proficiency in ESRI Arc GIS products and spatial data management practices.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, design plans and Auto CAD outputs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • A current C Class Driver Licence.
  • Experience in the water utilities industry and/or programming using Python or FME would be advantageous but is not essential.

If you're successful we will need you to undergo a few checks….

We know they might not be the fun part, but you will need to confirm your right to work in Australia and complete relevant pre-employment checks, including verification of criminal history, drivers licence and driving history, alcohol and other drug screening.
