VALE Partners have been engaged by an international SaaS scale-up to help grow their Australian engineering team in Melbourne. The company has established strong product-market fit, and its software is used by world leaders to produce their best work. This is a hands-on technical anchor role with no direct reports. Your time will be spent predominantly writing and reviewing code alongside the team, with the rest going to architecture decisions, technical direction and mentoring. You’ll be joining an environment that runs on curiosity and reflection. Here, good is treated as a snapshot in time rather than an enduring trait.

Role Overview

  • Set technical direction for the move from a legacy MVC application to domain-driven microservices, defining architecture elements such as service boundaries and event-driven workflows.
  • Write production code in C# and TypeScript.
  • Own code review standards and help establish quality benchmarks, both directly by conducting reviews and indirectly through mentoring.
  • Set up, test and iterate on agentic development workflows, identifying what works and facilitating adoption by the team.

What You’ll Ideally Have

  • Experience designing and building .NET services, including REST API design and performance tuning across SQL and Entity Framework.
  • Experience building performant SPAs using TypeScript and component libraries.
  • Familiarity with messaging and event-driven architecture in both greenfield and brownfield migration contexts.
  • Experience modernising a legacy codebase while minimising impact on shipping velocity and performance.
  • The ability to explain technical trade-offs and decision making to non-technical stakeholders.

This Role Will Interest You If:

  • You want the pace and agency of a startup without giving up the structure and process of an established team.
  • You’ve consistently been one of the people bringing new ideas to team discussions, and you’re looking for a team where your proactivity and curiosity will be treated as an asset.
  • You’re excited by the idea of working on industry-leading software that’s in use by a global customer base.
  • You’ve been pursuing your interest in moving beyond basic code completion into agentic development workflows and engineering automation.
