Our client is an enterprise financial services institute operating in a complex and highly regulated environment. They are seeking an experienced Manager to sit across risk practices and culture. This role will allow you to drive greater consistency, maturity and accountability across their technology function. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone who can move beyond frameworks and policies to influence behaviours, build capability and make risk management an integral part of how Technology operates.

The opportunity

Working closely with Technology leaders and key risk stakeholders, you will lead the uplift of first-line technology risk practices across the organisation. You will bring structure and consistency to how risks are identified, assessed, documented, monitored and reported, ensuring leaders have greater visibility of exposures and the information they need to make informed decisions. A key focus will be on aligning different workstreams to a common approach, strengthening the quality of risk profiles and controls and driving the resolution of issues and control weaknesses. You will also lead a small team of Technology Risk & Compliance Specialists, providing direction, setting priorities and building capability to support a more consistent and effective risk environment. Success will come from your ability to influence without creating unnecessary bureaucracy, challenge constructively and translate risk requirements into practical action.

What you'll be doing

You are a confident technology risk leader who can bring structure, consistency and momentum to a complex environment. You know how to work across different teams, navigate competing priorities and influence stakeholders to adopt a common approach without losing sight of business outcomes. You will bring:

  • Significant experience in technology risk, information security risk, operational risk, compliance, assurance or a related first-line risk leadership role within a complex organisation;
  • Demonstrated experience uplifting risk frameworks, processes and practices, particularly where approaches need to be standardised or maturity improved;
  • The ability to establish practical standards and embed consistent risk disciplines across multiple teams or workstreams;
  • Experience leading and developing a small team of risk professionals, providing direction, coaching and clear priorities;
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, risk appetite, controls, risk reporting and governance;
  • Experience coordinating remediation and influencing outcomes across teams with different priorities and accountabilities;
  • An understanding of APRA prudential expectations, including CPS 230, CPS 234 and CPS 220, ideally within superannuation or another regulated financial services environment;
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and communication skills, with the judgement to challenge constructively and escalate material risks when required.

Relevant qualifications and professional certifications such as CRISC, CISA, CISM or CGEIT will be highly regarded.

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference to how technology risk is managed across a large, complex organisation. You will have the scope to shape practices, influence senior stakeholders, develop a specialist team and help establish a more consistent, mature and accountable risk culture. If you enjoy bringing people together, improving how things work and turning risk frameworks into meaningful business practices, we would love to hear from you.
