Thompson Institute
UniSC’s Thompson Institute addresses society’s most pressing mental health issues. We integrate world-class research, clinical programs and education under one roof, to translate the latest science into programs that benefit society. Everything we do is underpinned by neuroscience. This uncovers promising new insights into mental health and how it is linked to our brain structure and function.
The Opportunity
Join the Thompson Institute’s Let’s Yarn About Sleep (LYAS) program and contribute to meaningful research, community engagement and workforce development that aims to improve sleep health and wellbeing for First Nations communities. Supporting the MRFF Trauma Informed Sleep Health and MRFF Child Mental Health Research projects, you will help build the capacity of the sleep health workforce to deliver culturally responsive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Working collaboratively with the LYAS team, you will support clinicians and service providers through training and practice resources, build community capacity by training community members as sleep coaches and champions, support consumer-focused sleep health initiatives, and develop strong relationships with community members, consumers, service providers and industry partners. You will also contribute to the co-design, delivery and evaluation of program activities, as well as research publications and competitive grant applications that strengthen the Thompson Institute’s research capability and partnerships with First Nations communities. The role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference through regular travel to remote, rural and regional communities to support engagement, co-design workshops, training, research dissemination and program roadshows.
