  • Put children & young people’s safety & wellbeing at the heart of your work.
  • Join a connected Horsham team with strong local and regional partnerships.
  • Two permanent roles | Full-time or 0.8–0.9 considered | SCHADS Level 5.

Your new role

When a family reaches out for support, having someone listen, understand and help them take the next step can change their experience. As an Orange Door Practitioner based in Horsham, you’ll work alongside children, young people and families across the Wimmera, with a focus on child wellbeing.

You’ll talk with families about what’s happening at home, recognise their strengths and assess risks and support needs. Working with colleagues and local services, you’ll help families access coordinated support that keeps children’s safety, development and wellbeing at the centre.

It’s a great time to join Uniting. Our recent move to a service stream structure is strengthening connections and support across our Child, Youth and Family programs. We have two permanent opportunities, with full-time or part-time arrangements of 0.8–0.9 FTE considered.

About the program

The Orange Door offers a welcoming place for people to access support to strengthen the care and wellbeing of children and young people as well as support with family violence. It brings services together so people can talk about their needs and connect with the right support.

In Horsham, you’ll join a friendly, welcoming multidisciplinary team connected to the Wimmera community. Uniting works alongside other community service organisations, Aboriginal services and government partners, bringing different perspectives and expertise together to support children and families.

You’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn and develop through training and professional development. If you’re new to practice, experienced and empathetic leaders will support you as you build your skills and confidence.

Benefits of working at Uniting

Our work isn’t easy, but it matters. Work with people who care as much as you.

In addition to SCHADS Level 5 pay + super, you can access:

  • Free counselling through our Employee Assistance Program.
  • 10% off Uniting Early Learning and 25% off at Uniting Op Shops.

Your skills and experience

You listen with care, think through complex situations and work with others to help children and families access the right support.

You’ll bring:

  • A relevant degree qualification in Social Work OR a related family violence discipline (AQF Level 7 or above). Please refer to the Mandatory Minimum Qualifications Policy for full details, including alternative experience and qualification pathways.
