At Unita, we build spaces where people love to work, shop, dine, learn, stay and play – delivering retail stores, hospitality venues, hotels, offices, gyms and wellness spaces, medical centres and education facilities across Australia. But great spaces don’t build themselves. Great teams do. People have always been at the heart of what we do. We’re big enough to deliver career-defining work across Australia, but small enough that your contribution is seen, your input is valued and the work you do matters.
We’re looking for an Estimator to help us win the right work and set projects up for success from day one.
The role:
- Estimators play a critical role in the projects we pursue.
- You’ll work across the full tender lifecycle, partnering with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to build accurate, competitive submissions that balance opportunity, risk and commercial outcomes.
- You’ll be trusted to own your tenders, apply sound judgement and provide the clarity and confidence needed for projects to move seamlessly into delivery.
What great looks like:
- Tenders are set up correctly from the start, structured, complete and on programme.
- Trade packages are well scoped, clearly communicated and followed up consistently.
- Independent take-offs are completed and used to sense-check subcontractor pricing before submission.
- Project risks are identified, documented and addressed throughout the tender process.
- Tender submissions are professional, detailed and delivered on time, every time.
- Post-tender queries are handled promptly and accurately, maintaining client confidence.
- Delivery teams receive a clean handover, with pricing assumptions, clarifications and subcontractor context clearly documented.
Who this role suits:
- This role suits an experienced Estimator who enjoys turning complex information into clear commercial decisions.
- You’re commercially sharp, detail-oriented and take pride in producing accurate work.
- You understand that every tender is an opportunity to win work, protect margin and build confidence with clients.
- Detail-oriented and accurate, with a high standard for quality and precision.
- Commercially minded, balancing competitiveness, value and risk in your approach.
- Organised and deadline-driven, able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
- Collaborative and relationship-focused, building strong working relationships with trades, consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Proactive and client-aware, understanding that estimation is often the start of the client relationship.
- Calm under pressure, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail when deadlines are tight.
- Naturally aligned to the Unita Way – you take responsibility, work well with others, and look for better ways of doing things.
Experience we’re looking for:
- Experience estimating within fitout, commercial or construction environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects ranging from $500K to $10M+ in value.
- Comfortable completing independent take-offs and interpreting construction documentation, drawings and specifications.
- Experience with CostX, Bluebeam or similar estimating tools.
At Unita, every team member shapes our culture in their own unique way. We value different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences, and we’re committed to creating a workplace where people feel safe, respected and able to do their best work.
