We are seeking an experienced HV Power Systems Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Canberra, working across a diverse portfolio of major projects within the Data Centre, Industrial and Defence sectors.
This role will suit an engineer with a strong technical background in HV power systems, particularly across protection and grading studies, power system modelling and technical reporting.
You will be involved in delivering detailed engineering studies and solutions for complex electrical infrastructure projects, working closely with clients, project teams and other engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake HV protection and discrimination/grading studies across industrial, data centre and defence projects.
- Develop and deliver detailed power system studies, technical assessments and engineering reports.
- Perform protection coordination, fault level, load flow and related power system analysis.
- Develop and review protection settings and associated engineering documentation.
- Build and maintain power system models using industry-standard software.
- Analyse study results and provide practical engineering recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and internal engineering teams.
- Provide technical input throughout the design, construction and commissioning phases of projects.
Skills & Experience
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in HV power systems engineering.
- Strong experience undertaking protection coordination and grading studies.
- Proven ability to develop, interpret and present detailed engineering reports.
- Proficient in the use of ETAP, PowerCAD and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
- Understanding of HV/LV distribution networks, protection systems and power system design.
- Experience across industrial facilities, data centres, defence or other critical infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
- Strong technical communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a wider engineering team.
