If you're a provisional psychologist and already writing notes at 9pm, this one's worth a read. Every psychologist here gets 90 minutes of protected admin time a day and a proper admin team behind them. We need a provisional psychologist who wants most of their caseload to be kids.

We're Monica and Justin. We started Unbound Minds after years in practices that talked a lot about work-life balance and then delivered pretty much the opposite. We built the practice we wished we'd worked in, as it matters most for provisional psychologists, because the internship years are where many good people quietly decide this career costs too much.

The honest bits first:

  • Days are yours. Minimum two, up to five, and we build the week around the right person. We recruit on a rolling basis, so let's talk about what fits your life.
  • Flexibility that respects your time. Client cancels? Go home and write your notes from the couch instead of warming a chair for two hours. Where it's appropriate, part of your week can be worked from home. Face-to-face therapy is anchored in-clinic.
  • Pay with no games. A transparent provisional band of $85,000 to $95,000, with clear annual reviews and a step up when you reach general registration. Reports, longer calls and case conferences all get billed.

Supervision and your internship:

  • A Board-approved principal supervisor, with supervision in paid time.
  • Support with the internship paperwork (your plan, progress reports, case reports) and time set aside to prepare for the National Psychology Exam if you haven't sat it yet.
  • Monthly group supervision plus dedicated 1-on-1, so you're getting more than the minimum hours.
  • A real path forward. Our most recent provisional psychologist reached general registration last month. From there it's general and clinical roles through to senior positions.

What the work is actually like:

  • 50-minute sessions with note-taking built in, plus 90 minutes of protected admin every day. AI note-taking (clients consent at intake) so your evenings come back.
  • A dedicated, highly skilled admin team runs booking, billing and scheduling. You do psychology, not paperwork.
  • A caseload that ramps up with you. You start lighter and build as you and your supervisor agree you're ready. Interested in anxiety, school refusal, trauma or parent work? We route you that work and hold off on what doesn't fit yet.
  • A $1,000 PD allowance, up to $1,000 wellness allowance, early long-service leave (3 years, not 10), and salary packaging.

You won't be doing this on your own. When the team's capacity tightens, we take that as our signal to hire rather than a reason to squeeze another client into your week, and right now the tight spot is kids, which is why this role exists. There's also a room full of colleagues to debrief with when a session lands heavy, which in your first year happens more than anyone tells you.

Recognition so far:

  • Finalist, Allied Health Team Culture Excellence, Australian Allied Health Awards 2026
  • Great Place To Work Best Workplaces in Healthcare & Social Assistance 2024 (Micro & Small category)
  • Finalist, Outstanding Health Improvement Services, Camden Local Business Awards 2024 and 2026, and Penrith City Local Business Awards 2026

Who we're after:

A psychologist with provisional registration with AHPRA, who does thoughtful clinical work and wants to do it somewhere sane. Most of your caseload will be children and their parents, with some adults alongside, so you'll need to be confident with both. Experience with children from placements or a previous role helps. Heart, judgment and genuine care for clients matter more to us than a perfect CV.
