Governance and Assurance Lead - Contract Role

About the Opportunity

Troocoo is partnering with a leading organisation in Brisbane to appoint a Governance and Assurance Specialist on a six-month contract. The team focuses on independent assurance, providing a risk lens that is separate from project delivery. The team reviews decisions at both project and programme level, including business cases, changes of direction and guidance from sponsoring bodies. The aim is to ensure that decision makers have what they need to make a sound decision. You will take responsibility for higher-risk investment and assurance activities, supporting a small team of four. You will also help design the business processes that sit behind the assurance function.

About You

You are an experienced professional who has worked on high-risk, high-value projects and understands where they are most likely to be caught out. You are comfortable working at a strategic level and have the credibility to engage executive and General Manager level leaders on the delivery side. You understand their perspectives and can act as a conduit to successful outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Experience in risk or assurance, project or programme delivery, with a preference for those who have moved away from day-to-day delivery.
  • A strong understanding of risk across large and complex projects, including projects valued up to several million dollars.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • The capacity to contribute to behavioural change and to reposition assurance as a valued partner to the business.
  • Exposure to infrastructure or utilities environments, such as power or sewerage, which is highly regarded.
