We are expanding our APAC Energy Storage Business and looking for a Senior Power System Engineer to join our Australian team in Melbourne. With a growing pipeline of utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Australia, you will strengthen our local grid connection capability and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from power system modelling to compliance and testing. Reporting to the Grid Connection Manager, Australia, you will work closely with internal engineering and project teams, external consultants, equipment suppliers and other project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and review power system studies and EMT/RMS modelling for utility-scale BESS projects using tools such as PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS®E and PowerFactory.
  • Support GPS development, grid connection applications and technical compliance assessments in line with the National Electricity Rules (NER), AEMO requirements and relevant NSP standards.
  • Prepare, review and coordinate power system models, study reports, performance data and technical documentation for R1 submissions, R2 activities and project-specific connection requirements.
  • Support the development and review of R2 testing procedures, model validation and grid compliance testing, working with commissioning teams to resolve technical issues.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in power system engineering, grid connection or power system studies, preferably in renewable energy or utility-scale BESS projects.
  • Hands-on experience in power system modelling and simulation, including EMT and RMS studies, using PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS®E or PowerFactory.
  • Solid understanding of Australian grid connection requirements, including GPS, NER, AEMO procedures, the R1 and R2 connection stages and NSP technical requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting grid connection applications, technical compliance, model validation or commissioning activities in Australia.
