Burleigh Heads, Queensland | Full Time

Great beer. Great people. A venue you’re proud to lead.

Born on the Gold Coast, Black Hops is about good beer and bringing people together. Our passion for brewing, welcoming hospitality and connection with our community sits at the heart of who we are. Our venues bring that spirit to life. They’re places where locals become regulars, visitors discover their new favourite beer, and a warm welcome matters just as much as what’s pouring.

We’re recruiting two hands-on Venue Managers, with each role responsible for one Black Hops venue. You’ll lead your own venue team and help shape what comes next.

The opportunity

You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day running of the venue, creating memorable experiences for our guests and an environment where our people feel supported, valued and proud of their work. From leading a busy service to developing your team, building local connections and keeping the venue running safely and efficiently, you’ll set the standard through your own actions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the team: Recruit, onboard, coach and support your people, setting clear expectations and recognising great work.
  • Creating great guest experiences: Deliver friendly, knowledgeable service and handle feedback with care.
  • Running a strong venue: Manage rosters, ordering, stocktakes, cash reconciliation and opening and closing procedures, keeping service consistent and controlling labour costs and wastage.
  • Putting safety into practice: Maintain a safe, clean and organised workplace, encourage people to speak up and follow through on concerns.
  • Building community connections: Develop local partnerships and coordinate venue events and functions, from enquiries and bookings through to delivery, giving guests a reason to return.
  • Delivering results: Take responsibility for agreed sales targets and operating budgets, monitor venue performance and margins, and report on results and opportunities for improvement.
  • Working together: Build strong relationships with brewing, sales and support teams to keep the venue informed, connected and operating smoothly.

What you’ll bring

  • You’re an approachable leader who enjoys being on the floor with your team. You can keep a cool head during a busy service, have a constructive conversation when something needs attention, and bring people with you when things change.
  • Experience managing a hospitality venue, bar or taproom.
  • Strong people leadership, rostering and operational skills.
  • Commercial awareness, including managing stock, labour costs and venue performance.
  • A commitment to responsible service, workplace safety and looking after your team.
  • An interest in craft beer and enthusiasm for sharing that knowledge.
  • Availability to work across the venue’s trading hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • RSA certification valid in Queensland. RMLV training and Queensland Approved Manager approval will be highly regarded.

Why Black Hops
