You're all about the detail and this role will allow you to drive evidence-based decision making to optimise systems and efficiency, not just for the business but for our customers too. It's data and research with impact you can see.
In this role, you'll:
- Lead the Data Engineering function responsible for designing, building and optimising secure, scalable and governed data solutions across a complex infrastructure delivery portfolio.
- Set the technical direction for data architecture, integration, modelling and transformation, ensuring data pipelines and platforms provide reliable, timely and cost-effective access to information.
- Build and lead a high-performing technical team, establish engineering standards and quality controls, and embed data governance, security and automation throughout the data lifecycle.
- Work with architects, analysts, technology partners and business stakeholders to translate strategic and operational needs into robust data products while balancing delivery priorities, platform performance, compliance and long-term sustainability.
Your extensive leadership experience in data engineering, data platforms and enterprise data management—developed in large, complex organisations such as government, infrastructure, engineering, transport or similarly scaled environments—will enable you to establish trusted data foundations and deliver secure, reliable and scalable solutions.
You bring strong knowledge of modern data architecture, data modelling, ELT/ETL, cloud technologies, data quality, governance, privacy and security, together with a record of improving engineering practices, platform performance and delivery efficiency.
You’re recognised as a strategic and credible engineering leader who can communicate complex technical matters clearly, influence senior stakeholders and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams. You are experienced in setting technical standards, guiding architecture and design decisions, managing competing priorities and enterprise dependencies, and creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and professional growth.
