In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead the safe and effective delivery of road infrastructure projects and maintenance programs across regional NSW, ensuring agreed time, cost, quality and scope requirements are achieved.
  • Develop delivery plans and schedules and coordinate project activities, teams, contractors and service providers across multiple locations.
  • Manage customer communication and build productive relationships with contractors, stakeholders and regional communities throughout project delivery.
  • Administer contracts, monitor project performance and implement appropriate systems, processes and reporting to support work health and safety and environmental compliance.
  • Lead and develop diverse teams by promoting a strong safety culture, encouraging collaboration, supporting wellbeing and building team capability.

This is a permanent full‑time role based in Tamworth, supporting road maintenance and construction projects in Glen Innes and Tenterfield. The role involves regular site‑based travel and working away from home. As Transport for NSW takes employee health, safety and fatigue management seriously, you must reside within a reasonable distance of the Tamworth office.

We’re looking for someone who has an affinity to regional NSW. You will be passionate about promoting and enabling a continuous connection with regional NSW and you’ll be inspired by the opportunity to make regional NSW a better place to live, work and enjoy.

You hold a four-year Engineering Degree from an Australian university, or an equivalent overseas qualification, and are willing to travel and work outside normal business hours when required. Your experience delivering civil road infrastructure projects and maintenance programs, supported by knowledge of project management, procurement, tendering and contract administration, will enable you to manage complex delivery requirements and competing priorities.

You bring strong technical knowledge of infrastructure construction and maintenance, together with the leadership and communication skills to manage project teams and labour workforces, mentor Project Engineers, prioritise workloads, allocate resources and build productive relationships with contractors, stakeholders and regional communities.

Transport for NSW provides a safe, integrated, and efficient transport system. We connect people, communities and industry every day. Our workforce is as diverse as the community we serve. Aboriginal people and people living with disability are supported throughout the recruitment process and at work, and we encourage you to apply.
