Want to learn a trade and get paid while you do it?

At Transdev Sydney Ferries, we keep 38 ferries running on Sydney Harbour every single day.

To do this, we need smart, curious, and hardworking people....

And that could be you!

As an Apprentice Boilermaker at our Balmain Shipyard, you'll work alongside experienced tradespeople and supervisors, learning hands‐on skills while you study for your Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking).

What You'll Do

  • Work side‐by‐side with qualified trades and Boilermaker supervisors
  • Learn how to maintain and repair heavy duty metal structures on our ferries
  • Get exposure to shipbuilding, marine maintenance, and fabrication repair techniques
  • Take part in problem‐solving and fault‐finding tasks with your mentor

What we're Looking For

  • A genuine interest in fabrication / boilermaking work (maybe you liked tech, science or hands‐on subjects at school)
  • Someone who's curious, a problem‐solver, and committed to learning
  • Good with your hands and keen to learn both at TAFE and on the job
  • A pre‐apprenticeship in boilermaking would be a bonus but not essential
  • What's in it for you
  • Learn from some of the best tradespeople in the business
  • Get exposure to unique, large‐scale electrical work on Sydney's ferries, not something you'll find in a normal workshop
  • Steady hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3.30pm, with rostered days off
  • Extras like discounted gym memberships, leave loading, a picnic day holiday and more
  • Be part of a global transport company with career opportunities across Australia and the world
