About the Organisation

Our client is a well-established community services organisation delivering a broad range of support across North-West Victoria and surrounding communities in New South Wales.

The Community Legal Centre provides free, accessible legal advice, information, referrals and casework across a range of legal matters. The service also undertakes community legal education and law reform activities to address barriers to justice and improve access to legal support.

A key feature is its integrated service model, working alongside professionals across different disciplines to provide coordinated support to individuals and families experiencing complex and challenging circumstances.

About the Role

As Generalist Solicitor, you will provide high-quality legal advice, assistance and representation to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients across a broad range of legal matters.

You will manage a varied caseload involving areas such as family law, family violence, civil law, credit and debt, and welfare rights, providing support through face-to-face, telephone and online appointments.

Working closely with the Principal Solicitor and wider multidisciplinary team, you will also contribute to community legal education, advocacy and law reform initiatives.

The position is based in Mildura, with travel required across regional service locations in Victoria and New South Wales.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, assistance and representation across a varied generalist caseload, including family law, civil law, credit and debt, welfare rights and family violence
• Undertake casework, advocacy and participate in the Duty Lawyer roster
• Represent clients in courts and tribunals where required
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals and external service providers
• Deliver community legal education and contribute to law reform initiatives
• Maintain accurate client records, case files and reporting in line with program requirements

What You’ll Bring

• Current Practising Certificate and minimum 2 years' post-admission experience.
• Generalist legal experience across family law, civil law, family violence, credit/debt or welfare rights.
• Experience supporting disadvantaged and vulnerable clients.
• Experience representing clients in courts and tribunals.
• Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills.
• Commitment to social justice and access to justice, with a current driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
