Lead finance for a high-growth consultancy business. This is a brilliant opportunity to become the Chief Financial Officer for the Australian division of a leading global business. The group has built a significant national footprint through a series of strategic acquisitions and is part of a large, well-capitalised international group with the ambition and resources to keep growing in Australia.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be the most senior finance leader in Australia. You will be directly involved in shaping the regional strategy, driving organic growth, and evaluating and integrating future acquisitions. The business operates in some of the most compelling growth markets in the country, including the energy transition, resources and critical minerals, and infrastructure planning.

The Challenge

As CFO you will be a commercial leader who shapes strategy, drives margin and cash performance, and builds a scalable finance function that can support the next phase of growth. Your core priorities for the role will include:

  • Partnering with the Australian leadership team to translate the growth strategy into financial plans, investment choices and measurable outcomes.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to the Global CFO on performance, outlook, risks and opportunities.
  • Driving the commercial agenda, including pricing, bid reviews, project profitability, utilisation and margin expansion.
  • Leading M&A activity in Australia, from due diligence and valuation through to integration and synergy delivery.
  • Owning cash and working capital, with a focus on billing discipline, WIP and collections.
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning, with forward-looking reporting that drives accountability.
  • Ensuring a robust control environment across project accounting, revenue recognition, tax and IFRS reporting.
  • Modernising the finance operating model through standardisation, automation and better data.
  • Building and leading a high-performing, commercially minded finance team across multiple sites.

The Expertise

This opportunity is appropriate for a commercially driven Finance Director, Regional CFO or senior commercial finance leader. Ideally you will possess:

  • A track record of partnering with operational leaders to deliver growth, margin improvement and stronger cash conversion.
  • Experience in project-based professional services, consulting, engineering, environmental services or another people-intensive business.
  • Strong commercial acumen across pricing, bids, contracts and project economics.
  • Hands-on M&A experience across due diligence, integration and synergy delivery.
  • Experience strengthening controls, project accounting, WIP and forecasting in a growing business.
  • Knowledge of Australian statutory and tax obligations, and experience operating under IFRS in a matrix organisation.
  • Proven success uplifting finance systems, data and processes to support scale.
  • The ability to attract, develop and retain high calibre finance talent.
  • CA/CPA qualification or equivalent.
  • The presence and communication skills to challenge constructively and build trust with regional leaders and global stakeholders.
