Keep doing the commercial work you enjoy. Have more control over how you do it.
We recruit commercial lawyers for self-employed consultant opportunities with established law firms, organisations and companies.
Build your own client relationships, develop your chosen area of practice and retain an agreed share of the fees you generate, with a firm's infrastructure behind you.
No existing client following is required to apply.
The role
Depending on your expertise, your work may include:
- Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Advising on business sales, acquisitions and shareholder arrangements.
- Supporting businesses with their ongoing legal needs.
- Helping owners navigate commercial risks and decisions.
- Managing matters and building long-term client relationships.
You will also take an active role in developing your client base and referral relationships
What the opportunity offers
- Remote working options.
- Flexibility to shape your workload around your life commitments.
- An agreed majority share of the fees collected from your work.
- Access to a firm's systems, referrals and agreed administrative, accounts, compliance and professional indemnity arrangements.
- A route to building a portable practice without the stress of operating a standalone law firm.
We work with multiple firms and will explain the terms, support and costs of suitable opportunities before you make a decision.
Who this suits
Qualified commercial, M&A or Corporate lawyers with commercial experience who can confidently manage matters within their area of expertise.
You may be considering independence for the first time or looking for a different firm to support an existing consultant practice.
We would like to hear from lawyers who give practical advice, take ownership of client service and are prepared to build their own business.
Your qualifications, practising eligibility and any supervision requirements will determine which opportunities are suitable.
How you earn
This is a self-employed, fee-sharing role with no fixed salary.
Your earnings depend on fees collected and your agreement with the firm.
We can't stress enough that you can apply without a client following ready to go.
