SAL Consulting is an organisation with a focus on working with complex individuals, systems and organisations throughout Australia. Our team of consultants provide various types of support and interventions to children and young people; people with a disability; and people who have mental health support needs, their families, and the organisations and government departments that support them.

Our work includes working with a diverse population, including providing support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families. We are always looking to add great people to our team.

We’re looking for a Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This role is open to practitioners from a range of disciplines – including Psychologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, and Educators. We are particularly interested in hearing from Psychologists looking to apply their clinical skills in a community-based, systems-focused setting.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Conducting a comprehensive range of assessments – behavioural, clinical, psychological, and multidisciplinary – and identifying appropriate interventions and service models.
  • Preparing and delivering high-quality behaviour support plans and discipline-specific assessment reports.
  • Providing behaviour support for children and adults with complex disability, psychosocial support needs, mental health presentations, and trauma histories.
  • Delivering discipline-specific therapy and direct treatment across the age span.
  • Working collaboratively with care teams, families, and the systems around an individual – going beyond the report to support genuine implementation.
  • Contributing to clinical support, reflective practice, and training activities within teams and organisations.
  • Participating in monthly internal professional development days and your own individualised PD plan.

The position will require regular travel around the Sydney metro area and occasional regional travel.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Tertiary qualification relevant to behaviour support (e.g. Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Education).
  • AHPRA registration is required for applicants applying as Psychologists.
  • NDIS PBS Capability Framework assessment: Obtained, or eligible and willing to obtain, assessment against the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission’s Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework (required for all disciplines).
  • Experience or genuine interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities, mental health presentations, and/or complex trauma histories.
  • Experience or interest in providing a broad range of assessments, including behavioural, clinical, psychological, multidisciplinary, and risk assessment.
  • Experience or interest in delivering therapy and intervention across the age span, working with people with disabilities and with cognitive impairment, and confidence across a range of modalities.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening (or the ability to obtain these prior to commencement).

What We Offer:

  • Flexible working hours and a genuinely family-friendly culture.
  • Work from home for administration and report writing.
  • Travel allowance included in remuneration for community-based work.
  • Extra week of paid annual leave (on top of the standard 4 weeks annual leave as set out in NES).
  • Access to the Flare benefits platform with discounts at various retailers.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP), access to confidential psychological support and counselling.
  • A role with genuine purpose and the scope to shape your own career direction.
  • Ongoing professional development and a genuine commitment to growing our team members.
