The Print Bar is a custom apparel printing and print-on-demand business with production sites in Brisbane and Melbourne. We offer DTG, DTF, screen printing and embroidery with no minimums. We also fulfil orders for a range of global print-on-demand platforms. We’re fast-moving, owner-run and growing.
You’ll own our day-to-day finance, payroll and HR administration and act as a sounding board for the directors. This isn’t a heads-down data-entry job. We want someone who notices when something looks off and tells us what it means.
This is a hybrid role, split evenly between our Gaythorne head office and working from home. Your office days put you alongside our production and office teams. Being close to the floor is part of the job: understanding how the business runs is what makes the numbers make sense.
What you’ll do
- Finance
- Full bookkeeping in Xero: bank and credit card reconciliations, AP/AR, supplier and partner reconciliations
- BAS, IAS and month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and balance sheet reconciliations
- Monthly management reporting: P&L and balance sheet with commentary on what’s changed and why
- Help with cash flow forecasting, budgets, margin and cost analysis, and stock valuation
- Work with our external accountant on year-end and tax
- Payroll & HR
- Fortnightly payroll in Employment Hero for production and office staff across QLD and VIC
- Interpret and apply the Graphic Arts, Printing and Publishing Award 2020: classifications, casual loading, overtime, penalty rates, shift and other allowances, annual leave loading, and public holidays
- Make sure every employee is on the right classification, rate and pay arrangement, and roll out annual wage increases each 1 July
- Manage leave balances, personal leave, long service leave and parental leave entitlements
- Calculate termination and redundancy payments correctly
- Handle super, PAYG, STP, payroll tax and workers’ compensation wage declarations
- Look after onboarding and offboarding paperwork, contracts, variations and employee records, working with our external HR provider on more complex matters
- Flag compliance risks early, such as hours, rostering, breaks and underpayment exposure, and recommend fixes
About you
- 3+ years in a bookkeeping, payroll, finance officer or assistant accountant role, ideally in a manufacturing, production or e-commerce business
- Hands‑on experience interpreting a Modern Award and running award-based payroll with casual, part-time and full‑time staff. Experience with the Graphic Arts Award is a strong advantage
- Good working knowledge of the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards
- Strong Xero and Excel skills; Employment Hero experience is a plus
- Solid understanding of GST, BAS, super, STP and payroll tax
- Studying towards or holding a CA/CPA, a Cert IV in Accounting/Bookkeeping, or a payroll qualification is welcome

- Real ownership of the finance function and direct access to the decision-makers
- The chance to see clearly how your work affects a growing business
