About Us

The Pastoral Pork Company (Otway Pork) is a premium, ethical pork producer with a clear growth agenda across domestic and international markets. Our focus is simple: quality product, strong partnerships, and disciplined execution. We are in a growth phase — expanding boxed, value-added and branded products across butcher, food service, retail and wholesale channels.

What you'll be doing

  • People & Culture
    • Provide first-line HR advice to employees and managers, independently resolving routine matters.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, probation, employment changes and offboarding.
    • Guide managers through performance, attendance and employee relations matters, escalating complex issues appropriately.
    • Apply employment legislation, modern awards and company policies to support consistent and compliant practices.
    • Maintain HR systems, employee records and workforce reporting.
    • Coordinate training, development and compliance requirements.
    • Identify and implement improvements to HR processes and systems.
  • Health & Safety
    • Support managers with workplace safety processes, inspections and hazard management.
    • Monitor incident reporting, corrective actions and safety compliance.
    • Assist with injury management and return-to-work processes.
    • Coordinate safety training and initiatives across our operations.

About you

  • Experience in a generalist HR role, ideally within an operational, manufacturing or agricultural environment.
  • Working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, modern awards and HR practices.
  • Confidence advising managers and handling routine workplace matters.
  • Sound judgement, initiative and the ability to work independently while recognising when to escalate.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and organisational skills.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and confidence using HR systems.
  • Experience with Employment Hero or workplace safety processes would be advantageous but isn't essential.

Why join us?

  • Build towards your next career step – develop the broader advisory, employee relations and operational experience that can support progression into a senior HR generalist or HR Advisor role.
  • Gain meaningful business exposure – work directly with the General Manager – Business Enablement and operational leaders, developing your commercial understanding and professional judgement.
  • Expand your expertise – gain experience across people, culture and workplace safety in a diverse operational environment.
  • Make a visible contribution – help improve HR practices, strengthen processes and support better outcomes for employees and managers.
  • Competitive remuneration and a practical and collaborative team.
