Majura Primary School is located in the suburb of Watson in Canberra’s inner north. Established in 1963, the school caters for students from Preschool to Year 6 and provides an inclusive and caring environment that values each student as an individual while developing responsible citizens. The school is currently engaged in a 5-year modernisation program to cater for 21st Century pedagogical practices. Planning and early works for the project are progressing, with several key milestones now complete.
The school’s learning programs are informed by the Australian Curriculum and, in Preschool, the Early Years Learning Framework. Teaching and learning are guided by a shared commitment to providing a high-quality education that supports students to become culturally aware global citizens who enjoy learning, building friendships, and contributing positively to their community. Learning at Majura Primary School is underpinned by the values of Respect, Collaboration, Integrity, Resilience, and Inclusivity. These values guide everyday behaviours and decision-making, with staff working collaboratively to develop the potential of every student through strong relationships and a commitment to individual learning goals. The curriculum is enriched through specialist programs in Music, the Arts, Sustainability, Physical Education, and Kitchen and Garden.
Majura Primary School has a strong sense of community, with families who are highly engaged and committed to both the school and the broader Watson and Downer communities. Clear and regular communication from teachers and the school supports these partnerships, and families are encouraged to actively engage in school life to ensure students receive the best possible educational opportunities.
