Make your mark as a PR Account Manager in the PR & Communications sector, based in Cambridge.

Cambridge has quietly become one of the UK's most interesting places to build a PR career, thanks to the density of science, tech and biotech firms that need specialist communications support. This role sits inside an established enterprise player in PR & Communications, the kind of organisation with structured teams, clear frameworks and clients who expect polish. You'd be joining at a point where the account base is growing and the work is genuinely varied.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Managing a portfolio of client accounts day to day, acting as the main point of contact and keeping campaigns on track

Writing and editing press releases, media pitches and briefing documents that actually get picked up

Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, editors and industry contacts relevant to each client's sector

Coordinating campaign timelines across internal teams, from creative to analytics, so nothing slips

Reporting on coverage and campaign performance, translating results into language clients understand

Spotting opportunities for clients to comment on breaking news or industry trends before competitors do

Here are the skills you'll need:

Two to four years' experience in a PR agency or in-house communications team

Strong writing skills, with the discipline to hit deadlines without cutting corners

An existing network of media contacts, or the confidence to build one fast

Comfortable managing multiple clients and priorities at once without losing attention to detail

Some experience with media monitoring tools and basic reporting or analytics

The ability to push back on a client tactfully when their instinct isn't the right one

Key perks and benefits:

  • Salary of Β£33,500 to Β£43,000, depending on experience
  • Hybrid working, with time split between the Cambridge office and home
  • Private medical and dental insurance
  • Enhanced pension scheme and performance-based bonuses
  • A comprehensive benefits package built for people who plan to stay

Why pursue a career in PR & Communications?

PR & Communications has grown well beyond press releases and media lists. Clients now want strategic advisers who understand digital, reputation and crisis response in equal measure, and that shift has opened up faster, more varied career paths for people who can deliver. Cambridge adds another layer: a PR Account Manager here works alongside some of the sharpest research and technology clients in the country, which sharpens your own thinking fast. Progress here tends to be earned through results, not just time served.
