Ambitious Climate and Sustainability Consultant wanted to drive real impact in AgriTech from Newcastle.
Farming feeds a growing population on a shrinking margin for error, and the pressure to cut emissions while keeping yields up isn't going away. This AgriTech startup builds tools that help agricultural businesses measure their environmental footprint and act on it, not just report it. Based in Newcastle, the team is small, moves fast, and expects the next Climate and Sustainability Consultant to help shape how the product actually changes behaviour on the ground.
Here's what you'll be doing:
Assess the carbon footprint and environmental impact of client farms and agricultural operations, using data rather than guesswork
Translate sustainability data into practical recommendations that farmers and agribusinesses can actually implement
Build and refine carbon accounting models specific to soil, livestock, and crop systems
Work directly with the product team to shape features based on what clients need in the field
Track UK and EU environmental regulation and flag what it means for clients before it becomes a problem
Write client-facing reports and present findings clearly, without the jargon
Here are the skills you'll need:
A degree in environmental science, agriculture, sustainability or a related field, plus a few years applying it in practice
Working knowledge of carbon accounting methodologies (GHG Protocol experience is a strong plus)
Comfortable with data analysis tools, Excel at minimum, Python or R a bonus
Able to explain complex environmental concepts to people who aren't scientists
Genuinely interested in agriculture and food systems, not just climate policy in the abstract
Self-starter who can manage their own workload without someone checking in every day
Key perks and benefits:
Salary of Β£33,000 to Β£42,500, depending on experience
Hybrid working from Newcastle, with real flexibility on when you're in
Equity in the business, so the upside is shared, not just promised
A learning and development budget you're actually encouraged to spend
Flat structure. You'll talk to the founders directly, not through three layers of management
Why pursue a career in AgriTech?
AgriTech is one of the few sectors where sustainability work has teeth. Farmers need to cut emissions and stay profitable, and that tension is where the interesting problems live. Newcastle has quietly become a hub for this kind of work, with a strong agricultural hinterland and a growing tech scene to match, and a Climate and Sustainability Consultant who gets in early has room to grow with the sector rather than just watch it happen.
