The Brook Bar & Bistro is looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead our large, table-service bistro team.
Serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, our bistro is an important part of a busy, established pub. Alongside everyday dining, we host functions and seasonal events that give our team opportunities to share their knowledge and create memorable experiences for our guests.
We’re looking for someone who cares about the details, enjoys developing people and wants to take ownership of their department. You’ll have room to make a meaningful contribution, backed by an experienced Management team.
The role
Your focus will be on leading service, building your team’s capability and delivering a consistently welcoming, professional dining experience.
You’ll be responsible for:
Leading lunch and dinner services with confidence, organisation and a visible presence on the floor.
Setting clear expectations for table service, presentation and attention to detail.
Coaching staff through practical, ongoing training in food knowledge, wine, service skills and thoughtful upselling.
Giving constructive feedback, recognising good performance and addressing concerns promptly and respectfully.
Building a team that communicates well, takes responsibility and feels proud of its work.
Working closely with the kitchen to coordinate service, communicate guest feedback and deliver food as intended.
Preparing the team for menu changes, seasonal events and hosted dinners.
Identifying opportunities to improve the guest experience, encourage repeat visits and grow bistro sales.
Our kitchen team is supportive, collaborative and proud of the food they produce. We’re looking for a leader who shares that care and can build a strong working relationship between the kitchen and service teams.
About you
You have experience leading a busy restaurant or table-service team, and you understand that good management involves both supporting people and holding them accountable.
You’ll bring:
At least two years’ experience in a hospitality supervisory or management role, with strong table-service experience.
A calm, considered approach and sound judgement during busy services.
Clear communication and the confidence to have constructive conversations.
A genuine interest in teaching, coaching and helping others improve.
Good food and wine knowledge, including the confidence to explain a straightforward wine list and help staff make recommendations.
Strong organisation, time management and personal presentation.
Initiative, follow-through and a high level of care for your team, your guests and your department.
In return we are offering above award Salary plus Superannuation, free onsite parking and a well established senior management team to support your role.
A current RSA, Approved Manager credentials and food safety training are valued. Please outline the qualifications you currently hold in your application.
