The Research Officer provides comprehensive support on a diverse range of research activities related to a collaboration agreement between ANU and the ACT Government to address the ACT Wellbeing Framework. This program of research is broadly focused on enabling evidence-based policy decision-making in the ACT, particularly to inform new solutions to “wicked” problems in health and education. For example, initial projects are expected to focus on (1) the effect of the changing workforce on inter-generational disadvantage, and (2) the effect of early life disadvantage on educational outcomes.
The Research Officer is expected to contribute towards both research and administrative aspects of Health and Identity lab activities, with particular focus on the partnership between the ANU and ACT Government and the current research projects. Contributions will include managing or supporting ethics and governance processes, event organisation, budgeting and purchasing, data preparation, and the drafting of documents including grant applications.
We are looking for a motivated and collaborative research professional with demonstrated experience supporting research projects in a university, government or research environment. The successful candidate will have strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to contribute to research activities, coordinate project outcomes, engage effectively with stakeholders and support the successful delivery of research objectives.
The ANU School of Medicine and Psychology (SMP) works to advance human health and wellbeing, enhancing the lives of individuals and strengthening communities, including those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples, in the ACT, NSW and beyond. By integrating the disciplines of medicine and psychology we aim to unlock the secrets of health and wellbeing, develop impactful therapies, solve national and international health problems, and lead impactful social change.
To do this we conduct collaborative, courageous, transformational and translational research, integrating perspectives, knowledge and techniques from multiple disciplines. We develop excellent, adaptable, resilient and innovative clinicians, academics and health care leaders of the future who work in partnership with their patients and colleagues to provide optimal care for individuals while strengthening the system and society they work in.
We partner with discovery-focused and population researchers, healthcare providers, government, commercial and not-for-profit organisations and communities.
ANU values diversity and inclusion and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to people of all backgrounds and identities. The preferred candidate must have rights to live and work in Australia and will be required to complete mandatory pre-employment declarations and background checks relevant to the role they have applied for, in accordance with the Background Checking Procedure and the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence.
